YAG capsulotomy is a safe and painless laser treatment that’s used to improve your vision after cataract surgery. After cataract surgery is performed, up to 40% of patients will experience a condition known as posterior capsular opacification. Posterior capsular opacification is essentially blurred, hazy vision that occurs because the new lens that was put in after cataract surgery has become cloudy as well. This can happen months or sometimes even years after the cataract surgery. If you happen to be suffering from this, Dr. Schottenstein is capable of using the YAG laser to create an opening in the center of the eye’s cloudy capsule, causing your vision to improve.
